Chiropractic: As Good for You as It Is for Athletes

Written by: Mike Nemastil, DC

If it is good enough for most professional athletes, there must be something to it. If professional sports teams have chiropractors work on their athletes, there must be something to it!

Regardless of competitive level, any athlete should consider ways to prevent injury, rehabilitate injury, and enhance performance. Athletic teams, from amateur to professional, and individual athletes of all competitive levels seek out chiropractors as one of the best choices to help maintain their physicality.

But what about the non-athlete person out there? We look at their lifestyle and know that they still have to deal with the physical stresses of life - every day. They work in their yards, mow lawns, do chores around the house, play with their kids, lift their children all the time, and do physical stuff. This person relies on their strength, agility, and flexibility just like an athlete would. And yes, sustaining physical capability is just as crucial to the non-athlete person as it is to an athlete because they still need to go to work and perform physically and be able to handle what every day throws at them.

The non-athlete person is just as susceptible to spinal misalignments and the ensuing spinal dysfunction due to the everyday physical stress their bodies endure. It is not just adults either. Our children play and fall and put their little bodies through physical exertion daily. Their bodies need the same support and care as an adult would need. Not getting the proper maintenance on our core structure and spine leads to our spine becoming misaligned and out of tune, like a car needing a tune-up. Our spine is a mechanical thing; it has many moving parts. We need to keep it tuned to keep it working in order. When our spine is working well, our body works well too.

In summary, athletes utilize chiropractic care because it affords huge benefits to keep their bodies working top-notch. Well, it just makes sense that we can use it, too, so that we stay just as physically able in our everyday lives. This incredible vehicle of health and wellness is available to us, and it is called chiropractic. If you have never tried chiropractic care, you owe it to yourself to do it. If you have used chiropractic care, you know what I am talking about!
