Robert started his career in healthcare in 1995 and had 25 years of experience in direct patient interaction as a Paramedic/EMT. Deciding to advance his medical career into the nursing field, Robert obtained an AS in nursing from Trident Technical College North Charleston in 2015, a BA in nursing from Walden University Minneapolis in 2019, and a Masters in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Walden University in 2020.
With 25 years of Paramedic/EMT experience and five years as an ICU nurse, Robert brings a wide array of skills to the South Carolina House Calls (SCHC) patients he serves.
Roberts's primary duties within SCHC are seeing patients in their homes within the Charleston community. Robert believes a patient's home provides a unique setting for medical visits allowing the practitioner to get a realistic assessment of environmental and other challenges a patient might be facing. According to Robert, "the home visit is a more intimate and vulnerable setting for the patient, and practitioners need to be mindful and respectful of each patient's unique situation.
Robert, who was often frustrated by the reactive nature of traditional healthcare, enjoys the proactive approach of SCHC. "As a provider, I have an opportunity to see my patients on a more frequent basis, thereby preventing issues from spiraling out of control and leading to unnecessary hospitalization. In addition to our in-person visits, all patient's within the SCHC system have access to 24-7 help through our Center for Telehealth." Stated Robert.
