Christine Waters, OTR
Christine Waters had always known that she wanted to be in the medical field, helping people. After obtaining a Biology degree from Presbyterian College, she decided to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy. Her passion for the field allowed her to work in various arenas. Initially, she wanted to work at the burn unit at MUSC, but no employment opportunities were available then.
Therefore, she moved to Charleston and worked as an OT in the school district, working with special needs kids in elementary school. Christine fell in love with pediatrics and practiced as a pediatric Occupational Therapist in an outpatient clinic for two years before taking some time off to be a mom. Having a son with autism, she was very blessed to have the opportunity to be on both sides of the coin as both a parent and a clinician. Afterward, she went to work for the Aiken County school district for 12 years before shifting her career path to adult home health.
Working in adult home health has been the most satisfying and heartfelt experience Christine has ever had. She loves visiting patients in their homes and making simple adaptations to help them function more independently in the environment that they are most comfortable in. Christine had the opportunity to work with and learn from other clinicians, and she enjoys the teamwork aspect of helping their patients stay as healthy as possible. She also loves the relationships she has built with her patients. Having a job that feels like visiting family more than working is fantastic. She is truly blessed to be in this field of work and is thankful to God daily for putting her on this career path.
