Dr. Robert L. Elder is a highly respected family physician, an esteemed medical community member, and a dedicated advocate for the well-being of his patients in Hartsville, South Carolina. Born and raised in Kentucky. Dr. Elder's desire to serve his community led him to pursue a career in medicine. After completing his undergraduate studies at Bellarmine College in Louisville, where he maintained an impressive 3.80 GPA, Dr. Elder pursued his medical education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine degree in May 1994.
Following medical school, Dr. Elder completed his residency in Family Medicine at McLeod Family Medicine Center in Florence, South Carolina. During his residency, he distinguished himself as a compassionate and skilled physician, laying the foundation for his future career in primary care.

From his tenure at The Medical Group to his roles at McLeod Regional Medical Center and Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, he has consistently provided compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages. As a Hospitalist at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and Medical Director at Beacon Hospice, Dr. Elder has played a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of hospitalized and terminally ill patients, respectively.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Elder is actively involved in sports medicine, having served as a Team Physician for Coker College and Hartsville High School. His dedication to promoting the health and safety of student-athletes underscores his commitment to community health and wellness.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Elder is a devoted family man, happily married to his wife, Belintha Coggins Elder, and proud father to his daughters Ryann McKenzie Elder and Meritt Hollyn Elder, as well as his son Wilson Nicholas Elder and his bonus son, Crawford Poole.
