Marilyn Malia

Dr. Marilyn Malia is a dedicated and accomplished osteopathic physician committed to providing exemplary care to her patients, contributing to medical research, and education. Her journey in medicine began with a strong academic foundation, earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017, following a distinguished undergraduate career at King's College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience.

Throughout her career, Dr. Malia has pursued opportunities to enhance her clinical skills and medical knowledge. She completed her Family Medicine Internship at Saint Petersburg General Hospital, where she also served as Chief Patient Advocate, demonstrating her commitment to patient-centered care. Subsequently, she undertook her Family Medicine Residency at Harnett Health Systems, where she honed her skills under the guidance of experienced mentors. She went on to achieve board certification in the field of family medicine.

Dr. Malia's dedication to medicine extends beyond clinical practice. She has served in various roles across healthcare and academia, including a current appointment as an Assistant Professor, where she shares her expertise with the next generation of physicians. She also volunteered as a peer reviewer for medical publications. Her employment history reflects her diverse experiences, practicing in both inpatient hospital settings and outpatient clinical environments. Prior to becoming a physician, she acted as a crisis clinician answering the suicide hotline, performing mental health evaluations, and visiting vulnerable populations.

A passionate advocate for quality care and patient safety, Dr. Malia has contributed to medical research and publications. She has authored and co-authored publications, clinical trial protocols, and presentations, covering a wide range of topics from pain management to wound healing.  She has a special interest in space and aviation having completed the Principles of Aviation and Space Medicine short course at the NASA Johnson Space Center.

In addition to her clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Malia remains committed to continuous learning and professional development. She is a lifelong learner, always seeking opportunities to expand her skills and knowledge to provide the highest quality care to her patients. She recently completed a primary care enhancement fellowship emphasizing teaching, research, and physician leadership.
